House Cleaning Tips: The Power of Baking Soda

Most of us already know tht baking soda is a multifunctional product that can be used from baking to cleaning. But, do you know the multitude of house cleaning prowess of baking soda? If not, then take a look at these:

  • When used with damp sponges, baking soda removes grease easily from stove, back splash etc.
  • Works great for carpet deodorising, just sprinkle onto carpet before going to bed and vacuum in the morning.
  • Better than any cleaner for cleaning baths and sinks.
  • Baking soda can be used for scrubbing sinks, bath tub, stove, refrigerator and laundry. It leaves everything smelling nice and cleans just as good as any cleanser without scratching enamel.
  • Keep you pipes clean under the sink by pouring about one quarter cup of baking soda down the drain with about 1 cup of vinegar, this makes a chemical reaction, then pour some hot water down the drain.
  • Baking soda or Borax is also good for getting rid of unwanted insects, just sprinkle around cabinets and cupboards and other places the insects might run.
  • If you burn a saucepan put in some baking soda and believe it or not Avon's Skin So Soft whilst it is still hot and allow to soak.  Apparently comes clean.
  • To minimise odours in your fridge, remove top from box of baking soda and place it on one of the shelves.  From time to time stir contents.

Tidy Up Your Bed Room With These Easy Cleaning Tips

"Clean As You Go", this is one philosophy that you should live by, especially when cleaning your own bed room. This place is your very own private space, so clean it and organize it in your own little way. Don't wait for the helper to do the house cleaning job for you. You can do it, step-by-step, by following these simple cleaning tips:

1. When vacuuming the bedroom, take a few extra moments to clean under the bed so the dust bunnies won't multiply.

2. While you get dressed in the morning, check your nightstand or dresser top and pick three to five items to toss out (ticket stubs, empty perfume bottles, for example). Clean the phone with an alcohol-based wipe or go through one drawer in your dresser, weeding out items you no longer wear or want.

3. Shorten the stack of bedside reading material by moving items you want to save back to the bookshelf or file cabinet and getting the rest ready for recycling.

4. If you don't have time for a thorough dusting, go over curtains, mini-blinds and the headboard with the upholstery attachment of your vacuum.

5. To save steps in making beds, store an extra set of sheets under the mattress. If you have a sofa bed, store linens and a bed pillow inside one of the pillow shams on the couch.

That's it! Easy peasy!

House Cleaning: Clearing Out Your Garage

More often than not, people's garages act more as storage sheds than as actual rooms to a home. After years of treating it like a storage space, there will soon be no room for a person to go into our garage, much less a car. However, this does not mean that you deprive it with a serious home cleaning. Sooner or later, you'll have to clear it out to give way for new stuff, or perhaps, you'd need an extra room for an additional household. So, before your garage transform into a useless room of mess, you should consider doing these:

1. Remove the car from the garage.

2. Organize each of the things that are in the garage by putting them in large containers.

3. Categorize them according to their classification just like plastics, tin cans, paints, papers, old furniture, and so on.

4. After putting them all on a side, start cleaning the ceiling followed by the wall and then the floor.

5. Carry the stuff that you have organized to a cleaned area or cleaned part of the garage.

6. But before putting the stuff on the cleaned area, we need to check carefully if we still need them or not.

7. If we find some old furniture that we think is no longer needed, then remove them out of the garage.

8. Put all the tools on their right place.

9. Remove tin cans and throw them away on the garbage bag.

10. Once you finish transferring all the clean items on the clean side of the garage, clean the other side of the garage until you're done.

House Cleaning Tip: How to Clean Stuffed Toys

Stuffed toys might be cute and cuddly, but they can be a potential breeding ground for germs and bacteria that may be harmful for your kid's health. The problem is, many of us hesitate to clean them on our own for fear that we might just damage the toy. While there is so much that professional cleaning services can do, you can always take the job on your own by following these steps:

Clean with Washing Machine

Before throwing in the toy to the machine, make sure that you have read the instructions regarding the proper settings for cleaning stuffed toys.  Always check the care label to check for any laundering recommendations and inspect the toy for any rips or tears to the seams. Any stains on the toy can be pre-treated with a mild laundry detergent, provided that the detergent is tested on an inconspicuous part of the toy to avoid discoloration or bleaching. Once you're ready, place the toy inside a pillow case and wash. You can choose to add fabric softener to make the toy softer and cuddlier.

Drying the Toy

After washing, allow the toy to air dry; do not use the clothes dryer. The wet toy can be hung out on the clothesline but be careful to keep it out of direct sunlight to avoid fading. When dry, a good brushing will help the toy to stay plush and cuddly.

Now, isn't that so simple?

House Cleaning Tip: How to Hire the Right Domestic Cleaning Service

House cleaning may sound easy, but do you know that there are actually some people who hire a domestic cleaning service to beat up the dirty task in their homes? Yes, that's right. These are the kind of people who barely have time to spare for a day's worth cleaning. If you are one these people and thinking about hiring someone to do the job for you, here are some things that you need to consider:

1. Word of Mouth

The best way to find the best cleaning service agency in town is through word of mouth. Ask recommendations from your family and friends who have already tried several cleaning services and ask them which among those would they recommend the most. J

2. Research

If you can't juice out anything from word of mouth, then you can do the research at your own. Most, if not all, reputable companies do have a website; so do make sure to check on that. Get as much information as you can from these websites and see if their standards fit your requirement.

3. Background Check

If you've already set your eyes on a cleaning company, the next thing you would want to do is to do a background check of the people behind the cleaning team. It can sound a bit offending, but these days, we can't just trust people easily. It's better to wise than be sorry.

Types of House Cleaning Services

Most house cleaning companies provide a variety of flexible frequency in their services. You can decide which service you intend to use. If you wish to hire house cleaners for your home, you can hire them on a daily or weekly basis. While hiring house cleaners on a daily basis will help to keep your home even cleaner, weekly cleaning is the cheapest available option.

In addition to the companies, we can even get our house cleaned by private cleaners. It is really an interesting fact that we get all the facilities provided by the companies from the private cleaners too. On the contrary, hiring private cleaners can effectively reduce the cost. However, reliability and quality of service remains an area of concern.

Typically, there are three major types of hired help. You can get your house cleaned by any of these house cleaners as par your wish and requirement. Services provided by each of them are almost the same. Thus quality and costing are the main selection parameters for hiring.

 Freelancer

A freelancer is the name given to those individuals, who are usually not licensed or insured and do several private jobs. Several unemployed as well as employed individuals do freelancing jobs on a part time basis. The advantage of using freelancing professionals for cleaning purposes is that you can get the job done on a time suitable for you. At the same time, it is much easier to bargain with a person not tied with any commercial organization.

Mother's Helper

Commonly referred as House helper, this group of people, preferably woman, provides various household services. You can get your job done and pay a usually feasible hourly rate.

Maid Service Company

It is the most preferred cleaning service provider. Hiring a maid service company ensures there is no compromise on quality of work. These companies are licensed and insured and therefore can easily be relied upon. At the same time, they offer services on weekly or daily basis as you intend. However, charges may be a bit higher compared to mother's helper and freelancers but the rates are not beyond your reach
